My New Personal Goal!

Dear Family & Friends,

To all those who have supported me and the cause in the past and those of you who are getting their first chance to support the cause…the race goes on…the race to cure leukemia and all other blood-related cancers. And if there’s still a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), then I know that we haven’t won this race yet. And if we haven’t won this race yet, then I know I have to continue to do my part to help win it. I’m not a doctor, researcher, or clinical technician, so I’ll do what I can. That means raising money for LLS while I train to complete an endurance event with Team In Training (TNT). This season I will be training for the Rome Marathon on March 15, 2008.

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (http://www.leukemia-lymphoma.org/), which runs TNT, is the world’s largest voluntary health organization and is dedicated to finding the cause, treatments, and cures for leukemia and related cancers such as lymphoma, and myeloma. The funds that TNT participants have raised are making a real difference. My personal goal this season is to raise $6,800 for LLS.

I had no real personal connection with Leukemia before joining TNT – but since that time I have met many patients and survivors (“honored patients” we call them) who have suffered from leukemia or other blood-related cancers. They have fought these diseases for most of their lives, yet they show such a positive attitude and gratitude for life. Meanwhile, I am glad that I can do something to help those who aren’t so fortunate, those who might be weak physically but are such fighters in life!

As in the past, I am not just running for myself; it’s no longer just about my personal goal or to keep fit, but I am running in honor of all those who suffer from these blood-related cancers. They are my inspiration – I think about them as I finish each mile of a marathon. As always, I need your support in crossing the finish line – both emotionally and financially! Please join me in helping LLS attain their goal. I know that with your support and well wishes, we will succeed!

Since the LLS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, all donations are 100% tax deductible. Please go to my Team In Training homepage and make a donation online. You can also revisit the page often to track my progress. Who knows, maybe your donation will put us over the top. Here’s the link: http://www.active.com/donate/tntgsf/ygallegos

I also encourage you to pass on a copy of this letter to anyone else who might be interested in helping this cause.

My sincere thanks for your moral and monetary support.

Yours truly,

Yvonne
